A newly-wed man died on the spot and five suffered injures when the car they were travelling in hit a roadside tree near Lakkampur village in Jagalur taluk of Davangere district on Monday evening. The deceased man was identified as Shantesh (36).

The injured, including the bride, Rashmi, have been admitted to the government hospital for medical treatment.

According to police sources, Shantesh, who married Rashmi on Sunday, was, along with their relatives, on their way to Rashmi’s residence. A case has been registered in the Jagalur police station.
