Collector Pravin Kumar has assured tribals that there is no cause for alarm as government doctors were continuously on the alert in all the 11 Agency mandals in the district view of the outbreak of dengue.

The Collector made an extensive tour of the Paderu and Araku mandals in the Agency on Friday as 17 cases of dengue were reported in the last few days. He interacted with patients, doctors, nurses and staff at various hospitals in the two mandals.

He inquired about the condition of patients from doctors and asked them to send patients, if required, to King George Hospital. He directed the Superintendents of Area Hospitals to keep adequate stocks of drugs and ambulances ready.

Mr. Pravin Kumar visited the Gudivada Colony in Paderu mandal and B-Colony in Araku mandal and spoke the family members of patients, who were undergoing treatment for viral fevers at various hospitals. He told them that there was no cause for worry as doctors were rendering round-the-clock medical care.

On seeing the insanitary conditions in the villages, he directed the officials concerned to ensure clean surroundings to prevent the spread of epidemics and also asked the tribal people to cooperate with the officials in maintaining cleanliness.

He inspected a drinking water borewell at Gudivada Colony and directed the officials to send water samples for testing.

Precautionary step

Later addressing the media, the Collector said viral fevers have shown a declining trend. The incidence of malaria was 60% less compared to last year. Pin Point programme was implemented in all villages as a precautionary measure.
