On a day the Supreme Court heard a petition regarding vacancies in the Information Commissions set up under the Right to Information Act, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an advertisement inviting applications to fill positions in the Central Information Commission.

RTI activists worry that the lack of tenure and salary details in the advertisement indicate that the government intends to reintroduce the RTI Amendments Bill, which was not tabled in Parliament last week following Opposition protests.
