Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched an Oncology Bus of Manipal Hospitals, at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Manipal Hospitals introduced the bus as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The bus, which would go to 9,930 villages in districts, is equipped with a laboratory, mammography, screening facility for breast cancer and cervical cancer (pap smear test), biopsy etc. The bus,with paramedical staff would function round the clock. Manipal Hospitals Vijayawada unit Head Sudhakar Kantipudi said that Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari, Prakasam, Nellore districts have cancer incidence.Mr. Kantipudi said that oral cancer in men, and breast cancer and uterus cancer among women were common in the State.
