The Central Crime Branch police on Tuesday arrested Nissaruddin alias Nissar, 23, of Bajpe for his alleged involvement in the theft of two head of cattle from a cowshed at Moodushedde on July 16.

It was the theft of cattle at Moodshedde that led members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal to hold a protest at Vamajoor junction on July 26.

The city police have arrested Imran alias Kutta Imran and Ummar Farrok for their alleged involvement in the theft.

In a statement on Tuesday, the police said Nissaruddin was involved in four criminal cases, including that of house breaking and theft.


The Mangaluru North police arrested Harish, 27, of Neermarga for alleged illegal possession of 1.7 kg cannabis. The police said Harish was selling cannabis to people near Pelix Pai Bazaar.

Harish had been arrested in two cases of theft and a warrant was issued against him by a court for his failure to appear for hearing, the police said.
