The Coimbatore City Police have taken efforts to freeze the transaction of over Rs. 20 lakh made by P. Shruthi aka Mythili Venkatesh (21), who was arrested along with family members for allegedly duping several prospective grooms of over Rs. 2 crore in the pretext of marrying them, for higher education at University of Glasgow, Scotland.

on Sunday that the city police already sent a letter to the CB-CID, nodal agency of the State, to liaise with the Interpol for freezing the transaction. The request from CB-CID would be sent to the international agency through Central Bureau of Investigation, the nodal agency for the Interpol at the national level.

Investigations by the Central Crime Branch of City Police had found that Shruthi had spent Rs. 10 lakh for studying Foundation Certificate in Science between February 9 and December 12, 2017 at the foreign university.

According to the police, she had later made payment of over Rs. 20 lakh towards the account of the foreign university for studying BSc Physics with Astro Physics, a three-year course. However, she could not join the course as she was arrested in January along with foster father Prasanna Venkatesh (37), mother Chitra aka Amutha Venkatesh (48) and brother Subash (18). Shruthi was recently granted bail.
