Heavy rain continued to lash the Capital on Sunday with the Safdarjung observatory recording 7.9 mm rainfall till 8.30 a.m., while between 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., it received 17.6 mm rainfall.
The Met Department has said that rain is likely to continue on Monday. A few spells of light to moderate rainfall as well as one or two intense spells are expected in some areas.
The maximum temperature on Sunday settled at 34.4 degrees Celsius which is normal for this time of the year. The minimum settled at 26 degrees Celsius. The humidity hovered between 83% to 97%, said the Met department. For the period between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar received 64.8 mm, 16.9 mm, 7.6 mm and nil rainfall respectively.
Although it was a holiday, traffic congestion was reported from across the city with the police tweeting out places that motorists should avoid. Waterlogging was reported in Dwarka Sector-12 at K.M. Chowk towards Ashirwad Chowk, Nangloi bus stand in Najafgarh, Mundka red light, Mahipalpur Chowk towards Gurugram near Rangpuri and at Mahipalpur towards Vasant Kunj.
