The days when a citizen had to go from pillar to post to get a ration card or get corrections done are passe.
All ration card-related services, including applying for a new ration card, entering change of address, adding or deleting a new member in the card, and changing from one taluk to another, will now be available online, with the new comprehensive ration card management system launched by the Civil Supplies Department.
The public can log on towww.civilsupplieskerala. gov.into avail themselves of the services.
Mobile app too
Civil Supplies Minister P. Thilothaman launched the ration card management system on Wednesday by logging on to the system. He also launched the mobile app
, through which also all ration card services can be accessed online.
The new system has already been put in place at the City Rationing Office, Thiruvananthapuram North, and Chirayinkeezhu taluk.
By the end of the month, all ration card services will be made accessible online, through all Akshaya centres and the mobile app, across the State. Ente Keralam can be downloaded from the Google Playstore.
Ultimately, the ration card management system will be integrated with the M-Kerala app, the unified mobile application of the State government where all services of all government departments will be available online, IT Secretary M. Shivasankar said.
Akshaya centres will charge Rs. 50 for applying for a new ration card and Rs. 35 for other card-related services.
Applicants can collect the new ration card from the office concerned when they receive a message on the mobile.
The Minister also released the user names and passwords for Akshaya centres by handing it over to Mr. Shivasankar.
He also handed over the new ration card to the first online applicant, the State Informatics Officer K. Mohandas.
Civil Supplies Secretary Mini Antony and other senior officials were present.
