The Pune unit of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), along with several prominent organisations in the city, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. AIMPLB member from Pune, Maulana Nizamuddin Fakhruddin, said, “We completely respect the Supreme Court verdict”.

According to Razia Patel, chairperson of Muslim Mahila Samvidhan Hak Parishad, the SC judgment should be accepted by all and peace should be maintained. “… We now sincerely hope that such issues in the name of God and religion should not be raised again,” Patel said.

P A Inamdar, chairman of the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society, said they have to welcome and accept the judgment of the Supreme Court. “We must respect the verdict if we believe in the Constitution of India,” Inamdar said.

Anwar Rajan, trustee-secretary of the Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, said the dispute has been a long-pending and vexatious one. “Apart from the legal aspects, the SC has also had to consider the political impact. Ayodhya should no longer be a political issue now,” he said.
