The HMT-Praga Retired SC/ST Employees Association has threatened to launch an indefinite relay hunger strike in the backdrop of the employees of HMT-Praga Division in Balanagar here not being paid retirement benefits since 2014.
In a statement, Association president B. Sankar Rao said since 2014, gratuity, provident fund and leave encashment have not been paid. “These employees are put to financial hardships to meet various commitments,” he said. Such a situation, he said, was prevailing despite a number of representations made by employees of HMT management in Bengaluru, Central government Department of Heavy Industries and to the Union Ministry of Labour.
