A total of 300 eye camps will be held across GHMC area under the ‘Kanti Velugu’ scheme of the government under which free eye check-ups will be conducted for citizens. The scheme will be launched on August 15 across the State.

At a special review meeting on Saturday, Shanti Kumari, special secretary to the Chief Minister, instructed GHMC officials to organise two camps for every ward.

She asked them to identify halls with at least 1,500 square feet area for organising the camps, and provide sanitation and drinking water facilities. To conduct check-ups in saturation mode, it will take 4-5 months, she ssaid. To avoid stampede, she advised officials to identify needy patients beforehand and conduct the tests only for them.
