Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Friday stated that Rs. 22,000 crore had been sanctioned to lay link roads in the rural pockets through the Panchayat Raj Department and another Rs. 1,100 crore to improve the rural water supply.
Addressing a review meeting with the officials of different departments at his camp office here, he said that the budget allocated for the link roads would be released in two instalments, whereas the rural water supply works were expected to be completed by December this year.
“We are spending Rs. 11,000 crore under the BC sub-plan, Rs. 9,000 crore under the SC sub-plan and another Rs. 4,000 cr. through the ST sub-plan in the current financial year. Our focus is to convert the social welfare hostels into residential schools, for which we are spending the special development fund,” he said.
Referring to the development works to be taken up in Tuni Assembly constituency, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that the proposed sheep units scheme would benefit about 2,000 shepherds the drains renovation works would be taken up under the MNREGS. “We are planning to establish a BC residential school in an extent of five acres. The works will be commenced once the site is identified,” he said.
