BJP president Amit Shah held a meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday at Yashwant Bhavan, the RSS office here, to disscuss ways to strengthen the ruling party in the State, which will see both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in 2019.

The duo, however, did not touch the topic of the ongoing agitation by the Maratha community demanding 16% reservation in government jobs and schools, according to a BJP source.

The source said the meeting was scheduled long ago and had nothing to do with the Maratha quota issue. “The meeting barely lasted for an hour. It was just a coincidence that it happened in the backdrop of an all-party meet called by the Chief Minister on Saturday,” he added.
