A pilot social audit will be conducted in four child care institutions this month, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has said.

The audit will be held from July 16 to 31, commission acting chairperson C.J. Antony said.

A committee comprising former Chief Secretary S.M. Vijayanand, former Social Justice Director Jithendran, Aby George, Geetha Gopal, and Jyothi Krishnan will monitor the audit.

The child rights commission monitors implementation of laws dealing with child rights. It has also been entrusted by the court to conduct social audits of all institutions and mechanisms that come within the purview of the juvenile justice Act. The audit will help strengthen child rights institutions and mechanisms keeping in mind the interests of children in need of care and protection, Mr. Antony said.
