Spices Board chairman Subhash Vasu has said that farmers can test the presence of pesticide residue in cardamom in the labs of the board itself.

Mr. Vasu, who took over as chairman recently, told a group of small-scale farmers at the Spices Park at Puttady on Wednesday that the samples for testing would be collected at the Indian Cardamom Research Institute in Mailadumpara and in the office of Spices Park at Puttady.

Pesticide use

His visited the Spices Park to oversee an awareness campaign on the judicious use of pesticides and chemicals in the cardamom sector. Rema Shree, director, Spices Board, presided over the function in which cardamom farmers from the State and Tamil Nadu attended.
