Health Minister Shivananda Patil has asked the Indian Medical Association’s Bagalkot district chapter to submit a proposal on facilities it is expecting from the government.

Mr. Patil gave this advice to members of the district chapter during his meeting in Bagalkot recently after they submitted a memorandum to the Minister on various issues.

During the meeting, the doctors said that despite spending huge money, the government hospital were not functioning properly. As a solution, the doctors asked the Minister to privatize the government hospitals for better functioning.

To this, Mr. Patil asked them to prepare a detailed proposal on how they plan to provide better facilities to poor in the government hospitals if they are privatised.

“ Prepare the report and submit to the government and also mention what type of assistance you are looking from the government”, he said.

The doctors, during the meeting urged the Minister to hike the reimbursement amount of operations under Yeshswini scheme meant for farmers.

The doctors said that the amount being fixed by the government for these treatments is meagre, thus they want a hike in that.

The Minister asked them to submit a proposal to the government for consideration. While the Minister lauded the works of medical fraternity, he also expressed disapproval over some of the doctors using fraudulent methods to make money.

Quoting an example of a private hospital in Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot district, he said that of 55 delivery case, the hospital conducts Cesarean section of at least fifty patience.
