Teachers under the aegis of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Organisations(FAPTO) will hold a series of agitations from next week to press for scrapping of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), according to its chairman B.Babu Reddy.

Members of 12 teacher organisations would embark on three ‘Jeep Jathas’ from July 30 from Anatapur, Chittoor and Srikakulam to reach Vijayawada on August 10 for a mamooth meeting the next day to exert pressure on the State government to quit Contributory Pension Scheme in the interest of 1.86 lakh teachers coming under the scheme and revert to the old pension scheme, he told a media conference here. “We will go on mass casual leave on September 1 as part of our relentless struggle till our goal is achieved,” he said.
