Metro rail commuters suffered as a train came to a grinding halt at the Kilpauk Metro Rail station on Sunday due to a technical glitch and delayed the other services.
A train that came from the Chennai airport stopped at the Kilpauk station around 6.30 p.m. due to a fault, Chennai Metro Rail officials said. Technical issues caused the train to stop and it took about about half an hour to fix it.
This affected the schedule of other trains too and the services resumed with a delay of 20 minutes for nearly three hours, they added. Usually, trains run at an average speed of about 35 km per hour and the frequency is almost 10 minutes during peak hours (8.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.) and every 20 minutes during non-peak hours (6-8.30 a.m., 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.-10 p.m).
