Hyderabad Traffic Police have set a target of approaching more than five lakh students of various educational institutions in the city this academic year, as part of their special drive to create traffic awareness among them.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar said that the drive was started and the traffic police is conducting counselling sessions for students of schools, junior and degree colleges in the city.
“We have put a target of reaching up to five lakh students this academic year. In Hyderabad city alone there are 3,522 schools and junior colleges comprising 10 lakh students,” he said.
So far, the traffic cops have visited 109 educational institutions in the city and traffic education was imparted to 30,340 students through Powerpoint presentation on Traffic Awareness and Road Safety, he said.
Mr Kumar said that he has been getting request letters from school principals to visit their institutions. He appealed to the school managements to send their requests [email protected]
