The second wave of floods in Assam has claimed two lives and affected nearly 50,000 people in three districts, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) sources said on Tuesday.

One person was killed in Kamrup Metropolitan district and another in Lakhimpur district in flood-related incidents, they said.

With this, the total number of people who lost their lives in floods this year in the State rose to 36, including three in landslides triggered by the deluge.

Authorities are running 46 relief camps and distribution centres in three districts, where 1,326 people have currently sought shelter, they added.
