Two more accused, arrested in connection with Valantharavai double murder case, have been detained under the Goondas Act.
Acting on the recommendations of Superintendent of Police Omprakash Meena, Collector S Natarajan ordered the detention of A Vasu (36) of Endhal, near Valantharavai and M Prasanth (26) from Revenuevalasai.
Senthil Kumaran, Inspector, attached to the Kenikarai police station served the orders on the accused, lodged in Madurai Central prison, on Tuesday. With this, the police have detained 14 accused, arrested or surrendered before courts in connection with the case under the act. In all, they had arraigned 20 in the case. Except one, all were arrested or surrendered before courts.
The prime accused S. Dharma and his brother S. Karthik were among those detained under Goondas Act. After the double murder of M. Boominathan (32) and R. Vijay (26) of Amman Koil at Valantharavai on May 20, Dharma, who had masterminded the murders, went absconding and surrendered before a Madurai court on June 25.
