With an aim to resolve waste management problems of residents in Gurugram, the agency responsible for solid waste management in the city has taken the local management approach by appointing ward managers in each of the 35 wards.

The ward managers will be responsible for managing local operations and ensure that waste is picked up daily as per scheduled timings.

The appointments will bring down the number of complaints significantly, said a statement issued by Ecogreen Energy.

The agency said that the ward managers will bridge the gap between the firm and the residents. The details of the appointments have been shared with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.

Ankit Aggarwal, CEO of Ecogreen Energy, said: “This is a step towards a more engaging approach to local waste management and better door-to-door collection service. All vehicles and door-to-door collection will be managed by respective ward managers in a decentralised manner for better efficiency and performance.”

He added that close co-ordination between the ward managers and ward councillors as well as RWAs will help ensure better services.

A central toll-free number (1800-102-5952) can also be used by residents for any feedback/complaints.
