A 62-year-old woman and her daughter died after being crushed by a falling tree near Nellimadu in Pandalur on Saturday morning.

Police identified the two deceased as I. Mookaiyi from Mangode, and her daughter, Rajeswari(48). The two were headed towards Ayyankolli to buy provisions and were returning home to Mangode by an autorickshaw when a tree by the side of the road became uprooted and fell on the autorickshaw. Mookaiyi and Rajeswari died on the spot, while the driver of the auto was taken to Sultan Battery for treatment.
