A team of surgeons at Parvathy Hospital performed a partial knee replacement surgery on a 47-year-old woman.
According to a press release, partial knee replacement, also known as ‘Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty’ is a surgical treatment for knee arthritis.
M.K. Vetri Kumar, consultant surgeon, Parvathy Hospital, said that the patient was diagnosed with degeneration in the knee affecting only inner-medial side of her knee joint.
Partial knee replacement was suitable for patients who experience arthritis only in one section of the knee joint.
She underwent a treatment for arthritis first on her right knee followed by the left knee, the release said.
