The Sembium police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly killing a 19-year-old youth, who was working at a fast food outlet. The suspect used a belt to strangle him to death and then slept next to the body till dawn.
The police said Durai was running a fast food outlet in Sembium. He engaged Jayaprakash, 19, of Ariyalur, a few days ago as a labourer. Two days ago, Durai went to his hometown and left his brother Rajesh, 24, in charge of the outlet. On his return, Durai scolded Rajesh for not running the outlet in a proper manner. Apparently, he gave him a dressing down in front of the employees, and Jayaprakash mocked him over this later.
Angered, an inebriated Rajesh went to Jayaprakash’s house, and strangulated him to death with a belt. As he was under the influence of alcohol, he fell asleep next to the body, the police said.
Durai came to the place and found Jayaprakash lying dead, and his brother asleep beside him. He alerted the Sembium police, who arrested Rajesh.
Rajesh admitted to having committed the murder.
