Sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force (CTF) conducted a raid and seized gutkha products of different brands, valued at about ₹18 lakh in the city.

On a tip-off, the team led by Task Force Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police K.V. Srinivas Rao checked the vehicles at Kesarapalli on the city outskirts and seized the gutkha stocks on Tuesday.

The material was loaded in two four-wheelers and was being brought from Brahmapur in Odisha. Police took into custody a trader, K. Kanta Rao, vehicle drivers B. Chandrashekar and Haji Akthar of Pune.

One Basha of Brahmapur was allegedly supplying the gutkha products to Kanta Rao of Vuyyuru, who was selling the stocks in retail to the local shops, said Police Commissioner Ch. Tirumala Rao.

The Police Commissioner praised Assistant Commissioner of Police V.S.N. Varma and his team for busting the racket. The Gannavaram police registered a case.
