Bomb squad demonstrates its prowess

Students from various schools and junior colleges had the opportunity to see and feel the weapons and ammunition, which are used by the police at the open house programme, organised by the district police at the Kailasagiri Armed Reserve Grounds here on Tuesday. The exhibition was organised as part of the Police Martyrs’ Commemoration Week.

Inaugurating the programme, Additional SP (Admin) V. Ajitha explained about functioning of metal detectors to detect explosives and how security checks are conducted during VIP bandobast programmes and types of technology used to solve crimes to the students.

The bombs squad demonstrated how bomb suits are worn before defusing a bomb. The major attraction in the open house were the sniffer dogs Siri, Goldy and Rocky. The students were fascinated by the way the dogs followed orders and completed the given tasks such as detecting and tracking explosives, narcotics at a crime scene.

RIs N.Venkata Ramana and B. Pradeep, RSIs and a few others were present.A large number of students attended the open house programme at RK Beach that was organised by the city police. The city police displayed various arms, ammunition in the programme and explained about their functioning. Police Commissioner R.K Meena interacted with school students.
