This is the second meeting between the Telangana Chief Minister and his West Bengal counterpart this year.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Monday and said his mission was the "formation of a non-Congress non-BJP front".

“It is an unification of forces across the nation. I have started a dialogue from yesterday, when I met Chief Minister of Odisha [Naveen Patanaik]. Today I met Didi [Ms Banerjee],” Mr. Rao told journalists at the State Secretariat after the meeting.

On his meeting Ms. Banerjee, he said, “when two political leaders meet, they speak about mutual interest and also matters of national politics”. She had called him up to congratulate him on his victory in the recent Assembly polls and he came here to seek the blessing of Goddess Kali and Didi.

This is the second meeting between Mr. Rao and Ms Banerjee this year. Both met in March and said that it was the beginning of the formation of a federal front.
