Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu found himself in trouble as strong criticism erupted from all sections on sanctioning the state government Rs 2.82 lakh to undergo dental treatment in Singapore.

A Government Order has already been issued giving nod the minister to use public money for dental treatment without any objections. Ramakrishnudu have got the root canal treatment done at Azure Dental in Singapore in April this year. State’s health wing – Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Trust – reimbursed the amount on August 23.

The general administration department (GAD) issued a Government Order No. 1844 releasing the amount. GAD secretary Srikanth Nagulapalli, said the amount does not require clearance from the finance department. The amount is paid from the medical reimbursements / advances head under the ministers and deputy ministers’ salaries account.

The opposition parties strongly opposed the government for relaxing money for dental treatment of the minister as the state is reeling under severe financial crisis. Cross sections also made hue and cry as to why Ramakrishnudu preferred Singapore over Andhra which is a medical hub for treatment.
