Workers protest against privatisation, demand job security
Leaders of various trade unions took out a rally in the city on Tuesday opposing the ‘anti-workers policies’ being implemented by the Central and the State governments.
Following the two-day nationwide call given by 10 central trade unions, workers of medical and health, auto unions, private and unorganised sectors participated in the bandh.
The 48-hour bandh was partial and peaceful on the first day.
The rally, which began in One Town, culminated in a meeting at the Lenin Centre.
The workers raised slogans against the proposed amendment to the Trade Union Act, privatisation and sought job security. Leaders of CPI, CPI (M), AITUC, HMS, INTUC, CITU, YSRTUC, IFTU and other unions participated in the protest.
