The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the case of gang-rape of a minor girl from Unnao.
The CBI also named his alleged aide Sashi Singh in the charge sheet.
Mr. Sashi Singh is accused of luring the victim to the legislator under the pretext of getting her a job, when he allegedly raped her last June.
The legislator from Bangermau in Unnao and his aide face charges under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abducting and inducing a girl), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and also relevant Sections of the stringent POCSO pertaining to sexual assault.
The CBI may file a supplementary charge sheet. “Further investigation is continuing to examine the role of others, including officials, in the case,” the agency said.
Immediately after taking over the case, the CBI on April 12 lodged three separate FIRs.
The first pertains to the allegations of rape and kidnapping against the MLA, who is currently lodged in Sitapur jail.
The second case is related to the arrest of the minor’s father on April 3 by the Unnao police for illegal possession of arms.
He died in judicial custody a few days later.
The third case deals with the charges of rioting and assault on the minor’s father. The CBI on July 7 named Mr. Kuldeep Sengar’s brother Atul Sengar and his four aides in the chargesheet in connection with the ‘murder’ of the minor’s father.
