A Class III student of a government girls’ high school in Hisar district of Haryana was raped allegedly by a teacher in a toilet on the school premises. The accused, a 32-year-old junior basic training teacher, was arrested on Monday.

The entire male staff of the school has been transferred following protests by villagers outside the premises. “Six male teachers were immediately transferred and women teachers were temporarily deputed. Further action against the accused would be taken based on the police report and departmental probe,” said District Education Officer, Hisar, Baljeet Singh Sehrawat.

According to the police, the accused took the eight-year-old girl to the school toilet on Friday around noon and allegedly raped her. He threatened to strike her name off the rolls and kill her if she confided in anyone about the incident.

However, the girl’s condition deteriorated on Sunday and her parents took her to a hospital where the doctors found that she had been raped.

Assault confirmed

The parents later filed a complaint at Bass police station and a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Hansi SP Pratiksha Godara said the medical examination of the victim has confirmed sexual assault.
