A sombre mood settled over the Telugu Desam camp in Kadapa district with the indefinite hunger strike of party’s Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh in support of the Kadapa steel plant issue, entering the tenth day on Friday.
Doctors from the U.S., who attended on Mr. Ramesh, are said to have made it clear to the MP that he might slip into a coma if he did not call off the fast immediately.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu spoke to the officials concerned. Mr. Naidu is scheduled to arrive in Kadapa on Saturday to call on Mr. Ramesh at the hunger strike camp on the ZP office premises.
“The Chief Minister will end Mr. Ramesh’s fast by offering lemon juice,” a senior leader said. IT Minister Lokesh, who was scheduled to visit Kadapa on Friday to make the MP end his protest, could not go due to unforeseen circumstances.
Ravi still in hospital
Meanwhile, the doctors continued treatment to TDP MLC ‘B.Tech’ Ravi at RIMS in Kadapa. Police forcibly shifted Mr. Ravi to RIMS a few days ago after his condition deteriorated.
DIG (Kurnool Range) G. Srinivas, Kadapa SP Babuji Attada and the district authorities took stock of the situation and made arrangements for Mr. Naidu’s scheduled visit.
