Heavy rain continued to pound Tirthahalli, Hosanagar, and Sagar taluks on Tuesday disrupting life.
A holiday was declared for schools and colleges in the three districts on Wednesday. The bridge that connects Mudodi and Mathikai villages in Hosanagar taluk collapsed. Many villages in Nagara hobli had no power supply as more than 20 electric poles fell or were damaged by the gusty winds that accompanied the rains.
The water level in the dam constructed across Kollibachalu rivulet near Gilalagundi village in Sagar taluk is to the brim. The water level in Bhadra reservoir rose two feet in the last 24 hours, while the water level in Linganamakki reservoir went up by one foot in 24 hours. Masthikatte in Hosanagar taluk received 200 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours, Hulikal 198 mm, Yadur 172 mm, and 120 mm in Mani.
