Maharashtra’s top-seeded Malavika Bansod and Uttarakhand’s second-seeded Unnati Bisht posted contrasting first round wins in the Yonex-Sunrise all-India junior ranking badminton tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi indoor stadium here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Kerala’s Treesa Jolly and Aadya Variyath also cleared their girls’ first round hurdle though the former had to sweat against Karnataka’s Richa Muktibodh. The boys’ top two seeds, MP’s Alap Mishra and Uttarakhand’s Dhruv Rawat, also had a smooth opening round.
