He’s one of Coronation Street ‘s most recognisable faces, and now new pictures show troubled Jim McDonald is out of prison and back on the famous cobbles once again.

Jim, played by Charlie Lawson, 58, is seen having an emotional reunion with ex-wife Liz McDonald, played by soap icon Beverley Callard , 61, as the former couple visit late daughter Katie’s grave.

It had previously been thought that Katie had died at birth, leaving them both distraught.

But in a dramatic twist, Katie – who is now known as Hannah – is very much alive, and will soon arrive on the street after living in Australia with her adopted parents.

Sure to ruffle feathers, Hannah’s arrival will coincide with brother Steve McDonald’s upcoming wedding to Tracy Barlow.

Hannah will be played by Australian actress Hannah Ellis Ryan.

Meanwhile, Beverley recently admitted she was over the moon to be working with Charlie once again, ahead of the actor reprising his role as Jim.

“I am so excited about working with Charlie again, Liz and Jim have such a complex relationship and I am really looking forward to the storyline surrounding his return.”

Outgoing series producer Kate Oates recently gushed over Jim’s return to the cobbles.

She told Metro : “We have some amazing stuff with Jim McDonald.

“He’s going to be coming back with a lot of resentment because of what Steve did – from his point of view, he has been rotting in prison and no-one cares.

“We also played a story 18 months ago where it seemed like Steve might have inherited a genetic disease from his dad but no-one went to see Jim to ask if he was okay. We have a great story to play with that.”
