ITV presenter Alex Beresford has opened up about a traumatic childhood incident that saw him rushed to hospital on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n
The Good Morning Britain star has taken part in the BBC\u2019s first celebrity version of Race Across the World with his dad Noel.<\/p>\n
In tonight\u2019s episode of the show, celebrities and their chosen travel companions could be seen making the difficult journey from Portugal across to the island of Corsica. <\/span><\/p>\n As Alex and his dad sat on a train discussing how they could try to fund their travels, the pair spotted that a restaurant was hiring staff. <\/span><\/p>\n However, Alex looked visibly uncomfortable when he discovered that the restaurant specialised in seafood, as he opened up about a terrifying childhood incident which has made him scared to go near fish ever since. <\/span><\/p>\n READ MORE: <\/strong> Good Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford ‘gutted’ as ITV axe show after two series[NEWS] <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n \u201cCome on Alex, it\u2019s about time you got rid of this fear of seafood,\u201d Noel insisted. \u201cThis all goes back how many years ago to when you were a young lad.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n When Alex acknowledged that there was a \u201cfishbone incident\u201d, Noel continued: \u201cYou had a little fishbone stuck in your throat. <\/span><\/p>\n Alex then explained: \u201cIt was Christmas Day and it spoilt Christmas Day because I had to go to hospital. <\/span><\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> <\/p>\n We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info<\/p>\n \u201cThey had to pull out the bone from my throat and ever since then\u2026\u201d he trailed off and shuddered. <\/span><\/p>\n Alex went on to confess that he is \u201cnot very adventurous\u201d with a routine that sees him go to the gym four times a week and live on a constant diet of children. <\/span><\/p>\n However, the presenter registered that he \u201clives in a bubble that is about to be burst\u201d, while his dad noted: \u201cHe will have to learn very quickly to adapt.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n After a short discussion, Alex agreed that the pair would work in the restaurant and the father and son duo prepared for the next leg of their journey.<\/span><\/p>\n As well as Alex, other celebrities taking part in the show include singer Mel Blatt, McFly drummer Harry Judd and British racing driver and pundit Billy Monger.<\/span><\/p>\n Celebrity Race Across the World continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
