Rachel Zegelr<\/strong> is the latest star from the Hunger Games<\/strong><\/em> franchise to perform “The Hanging Tree.” <\/p>\n

If you forgot, Jennifer Lawrence<\/strong>, who played Katniss Everdeen in the original movies, sang the somber song in 2014′s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the release of prequel movie The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes<\/strong><\/em>, Rachel <\/strong>has released a cover. <\/p>\n

There’s a reason that the song is being revisited. In the new movie, Rachel<\/strong>‘s character Lucy Gray Baird is the first person to sing “The Hanging Tree” generations before Katniss learned it. <\/p>\n

Rachel <\/strong>is no stranger to musical projects after starring in the film adaptation of West Side Story<\/em>. On the other hand, Jennifer <\/strong>was “horrified to sing,” according to director Francis Lawrence<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Speaking of Francis<\/strong>, he recently revealed something that he learned from directing the original movies that informed his decision-making process for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes<\/em>. <\/p>\n
