A nineties pop music legend has shared a health update following his stage four rectal cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n
Dario G,\u00a0whose real name Paul Spencer, announced the news on X, formerly known as Twitter in June, and vowed to stay ‘positive’.<\/p>\n
And since his diagnosis, Paul has spent his days living his life to the fullest while receiving chemotherapy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking to The Mirror, he said: ‘I’m doing really, really well. The chemo and the medication arrested and stopped the pain and then I think the chemo starts to take an effect.<\/p>\n
‘I think in a month’s time I’ll be having another scan so that’ll be around time. So yeah, my Christmas\u00a0present is a photoshoot of another CT scan or MRI scan. I had one done [recently] on my brain as well because little problems appeared because of the chemo.<\/p>\n

A nineties pop music legend has shared a health update following his stage four rectal cancer diagnosis<\/p>\n
‘I even faced in the last week, my sense of taste has changed. There’s always another thing and another thing.’<\/p>\n
Rectal cancer is a disease in which cancerous cells form in the tissues of the rectum, and signs can include blood in stools, irregular bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, or a change in appetite.<\/p>\n
Stage four cancer is where the cancer has spread from where it started to another organ in the body and is often called secondary cancer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When caught early enough, rectal cancer is relatively treatable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite his treatment and battle with the cancer, the musician revealed that he started playing football and running to help him focus on the good things.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Paul also shared that he finds ageing is a ‘privilege’ as he discussed he tries not to waste life.<\/p>\n
He added: ‘Don’t complain about this or that. Our hearts are beating let’s do something with that time.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
When he first shared the sad news, Dario wrote: ‘Hard to write this.\u00a0I’ve just found out that I’ve got stage 4 rectal cancer and a shadow on my liver. That’s damn hard to read too I’m sure.<\/p>\n

Paul (pictured in 2001) was part of the pop trio Dario G, and while the group has since disbanded, continues to perform under their stage name<\/p>\n
‘Gonna give it my best shot though. Stay positive, cos I am. Always. Seeing the doctors on Friday to discuss the next steps.’<\/p>\n
He ended his post with ‘#f**kcancer’ and a four-leaf clover Emoji.<\/p>\n
Paul was previously part of the electronic music trio known as Dario G, with their house track Sunchyme reaching Number Two in the charts.<\/p>\n
The song’s iconic video featured dancers in safari costumes and matching makeup.<\/p>\n
While the trio has since disbanded, Paul continues to perform under its stage name.\u00a0<\/p>\n
More recently, Paul took to the stage for the\u00a0Biggest 90s Disco, which featured fellow music legends\u00a0Vengaboys, 2 Unlimited, Haddaway and Phats & Small.<\/p>\n
Snaps from his recent performances showed Paul delighting crowds in venues across the UK by playing the electric piano and performing Sunchyme.<\/p>\n
In 1997, Dario G reached number five in the charts, with their\u00a0follow-up single Carnaval de Paris, which was later made the official song of the\u00a01998 FIFA World Cup, which was held in France.<\/p>\n
