GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has opened up about the “resentment” he feels about his chronic pain.

The star, 63, has also admitted that, despite his best efforts, “nothing much is getting better”.

The former This Morning host underwent spinal surgery a year ago and, while recovering at home in Surrey, fell down the stairs. 

He suffers chronic pain as a result of his fall and has tried all sorts of treatments – from epidural injections to ice-cold showers.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “I get resentful that I’m not the way I used to be but I just get on with it.

“I work hard at trying to walk. It’s very hard to get through a normal day but I have help from people around me.”

He went on to explain: “I go to the paraplegic gym, I try my best but nothing much is getting better and no one has a prognosis as to whether it will get better.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Eamonn also credited his wife Ruth Langsford, who has been his primary source of support.

Eamonn said: “Ruth’s not a particularly tolerant person but my god I’m so indebted to her. 

“She’s from an army family and she just gets on with it, she’s a tour de force.” 

He also said that he “couldn’t sing her praises enough”, explaining that the Loose Women star is “not what you expect in showbiz”.

Eamonn began experiencing back pain two years ago, suffering a dislocated pelvis, three slipped discs and a trapped sciatic nerve.

Reflecting on his back pain today, the star has admitted that he would put a greater emphasis on educating people about “maintaining our backs” if he was in charge of the country.

Eamonn married wife Ruth in 2010, with the pair presenting This Morning together from 2006 to 2021.
