Kate Garraway gives update on husband Derek Draper
Susanna Reid has shown support to her Good Morning Britain co-star Kate Garraway after her husband Derek Draper suffered a major heart attack which has left him fighting for his life. Derek, 56, has been seriously ill since contracting Covid in the early days of the pandemic in 2020.
Kate’s pal Susanna, 53, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a message of love for her friends during this time. She penned to her 901,000 followers: “Sending all my love and strength to @kategarraway and Derek. Two of the strongest people I know.”
Susanna’s followers took to the comments section to praise Kate, 56, for everything she’s had to deal with since Derek got ill. One person wrote: “Kate has had to show extraordinary strength & courage for a long time. Some see the smile she puts on at work & forget that underneath she is living day to day, never knowing how the man she loves may deteriorate.
“She’s being strong for Derek & her children. I wish them the best.”
Another X user expressed: “Well said Susanna, it’s such heartbreaking news to hear about Derek back in Hospital, he has gone through so much and also has Kate and the family supporting him. Sending prayers, love and strength to Kate, Derek and all the family. I hope he pulls through.”
